WHAT IS STAINLESS STEEL?

Stainless Steel is a sub-category of alloy steels, that contains miniumum 10,5% Chromium (Cr) content.

STAINLESS STEEL TYPES

By their internal structure, Stainless steels are divided into 5 main groups: AUSTENITIC, MARTENSITIC, FERRITIC, DUPLEX, PRECIPITATION HARDENING.

STAINLESS STEEL FORMS

Coils, sheets, plates, round bars, flat bars, angles, wires, square bars, hexagon bars, pipes and profiles are the standard producton forms.

STAINLESS STEEL STANDARDS

By chemical structure of Stainless Steels; they are classified according to their usage areas and properties. This classification code differs by country.

STAINLESS STEEL SURFACES

No1: Hot rolled, heat treated, annealed and pickled. Rough mill surface. 2B: Cold rolled, heat treated, annealed, pickled and skinpassed. Matte surface. BA: Cold rolled, heat treated, annealed, pickled, skinpassed and polished. Bright annealed surface.

GRADES

  • 304 304 is the most widely used grade of all the stainless steels.
  • 304L 304L grade is similar to 304, with lowered Carbon (C) content. 304L is preferred for its better resistance of intergranular corrosion.
  • 303 303 grade is the best grade for machinability in the austenitic group, with the right tools.
  • 321 321 grade is within austenitic stainless steels group, and is stabilised with Titanium (Ti).
  • 316L 316L grade is the low Carbon (C) version of 316 grade. They are within austenitic stainless steels group.
  • 310S 310S grade, is produced for heat resistance purposes. In normal conditions this grade is resistant up to 1100 °C degrees.
  • 304Cu / 304HC 304Cu grade is, 304 with added Copper (Cu) content.
